「紙マンガ」の現状はいよいよすごいことになっております。多くのマンガ雑誌は、かりに単行本がそこそこ出ていても、雑誌の赤字が単行本の利益を大幅に上回っているという状態がもう数年は続いているわけです。雑誌を出さなければ単行本は出せないのだが、雑誌の赤が単行本の利益を食い尽くす現状が、これ以上続くはずはありません。 そこから、作家に原稿料を払ってでも、雑誌はコストのかからない電子媒体にして、とにかく原稿を溜めて紙の単行本を出そう、という流れになっているわけです。ここ３年ほど、いろいろな版元が無料のWEB雑誌を始めているのは、そういうことだと思います。今後の出版界は電子雑誌中心に移行して、制作コストを極限まで抑えたうえで、従来通り紙の単行本、広告収入、作品の権利ビジネスで利益を出す方向にシフトするのは必至の情勢になっていると思います。
